Who Died Today: Brittany Murphy

Brittany Murphy

DOB: November 10, 1977

Passed Away: December 20, 2009

She was into acting and music from an early age, she first started in theatre at the age of 9 years old. By the age of 13, she landed a role on Blossom. Her big breakout role was in 1995’s Clueless with Alicia Silverstone where she appeared as the “tragically unhip” new girl at school Tai Frasier. From there she became a star with great roles in films such as Little Black Book, 8 Mile and Girl, Interrupted. She also lent her unique voice to the part of Luanne on the animated series King of the Hill.

She died suddenly. the causes were cited as pneumonia, anemia and drug intoxication to over the counter and prescription medication (probably taken to treat her pneumonia). Her husband Simon Monjack died a few months later apparently from pneumonia and severe anemia as well. It’s been recently speculated that they may have both died due to toxic mold possibly being in their house. Whatever the cause, it’s a tragic loss.
